" Maybe, there so many to choose from, the single best example of incompetence was the selection procedures established for the female 2012 Olympic team; a new low in moral depravity. The tryouts for the women were held, the team picked five months in advance; the criteria skewed to the +75 kg class on the assumption of fewer entries (a less competitive class) in London.
In point of fact, the “weak” entry class in London was the 63 kg. The final start list of July listed only seven 63 kg lifters. By contrast, there were 14 +75 kg lifters. To put this into perspective, note that there were only five (5) +75 kg lifters entered in both the 2011 Asian and European championships. This means there were a total of ten lifters representing the entire continental federations of Europe and Asia.
Three 58 kg women, all of whom could have been bested by our top two 58s, moved up after the final start list was posted in London. They competed in the 63 kg class making a total of ten lifters in this class. So, the mathematical guess was wrong. Our two top 58 kg females, whom by any reasonable qualification criteria, should have gone to London; instead they paid the ultimate penalty. For these two, who dedicated all that time and effort into training, all that sacrifice, all that emotional toil, time, money and effort, for not. "
" Mr. chairman, under your guidance, male weightlifting in the USA is below civil war torn Syria in international competitiveness and on par with Guatemala in terms of achieving Olympic slots; our female role models for recruiting young lifters are the two huge women whom lifted in London with results marginally or un - competitive with the 63 kg class.
Do the honorable thing: resign. "

"
There are 3 levels to being a Coach in China.
1. Junior Coach
2. Senior Coach
3. Doctorate Coach
To qualify to become a junior coach, you must first have gotten;
1. At least top 8 results in the national Chinese games.
2. Displayed intelligence despite not having good sports results
3. A degree, masters or doctorate in sport.
IF you’ve an education background in sports science, you must then spend numerous years under the wings of a coach who is willing to accept you. This is a challenge because not many coaches want to accept former sport students to be their apprentices because it is a hassle to teach them from scratch. The athletes already have a set of practical knowledge, which can be complemented with science.
If you’re an average person, who works a 9-5 and decides to switch into a career of coaching, it is almost impossible to be a coach in China. Not that my coach is aware of or I am. There aren’t any loopholes because this is a question of national pride. Also if you do become a coach in China, you begin from the very basic and take a huge pay cut. Few if any people are willing to do this. Coaching isn’t an intelligent move, monetarily in China.
At each level, you can look to spend at least 10 years. 10 years as a junior coach, the average time it takes to, develop a top athlete in China, and apply to be a senior coach. Go through the exam, and the coaches will review your application and answers.
Move to becoming a senior coach, develop athletes in the national level and get gold medals in the world and Olympic games. After numerous successes, apply to be a doctorate coach. Take the exams and you’ll be reviewed again. The state will then confer the award together with a university, and you will be called “Doctorate coach”.
So in total, this is how it goes;
10 years old begin athletic career. (12-15 years as an athlete)
25-35 years old, end athletic career, apply to be junior coach (10 years as a junior coach)
35-45 years old, apply to be senior coach (10 -12 years as senior coach)
45-55 years old, apply to be doctorate coach.
This is how the Chinese become coaches. And this is why, it will be extremely unlikely for me to call myself a coach in front of my own coach, for at least another decade."

Très classe, très très classe.
